A lovely version of this traditional French carol sung by Diane Taraz. Lyrics for both the English and French version can be found on the Wikipedia page for the song: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bring_a_Torch,_Jeanette,_Isabella.

French Lullabye

Posted by: | Comments (0)

A pretty French lullabye about a hen. We’re not exactly sure how the pictures match the song, but they are lovely. Here’s a translation: It was a little black hen who would lay (an egg) in the cupboard. It lays a small egg which the child ate hot. It was a little white hen who would lay (an egg) in the barn. It lays a small egg which the child ate hot. It was a little red hen who would lay (an egg) in the moss. It lays a small egg which the child ate hot. It was a little brown hen who would lay (an egg) on the moon. It lays a small egg which the child ate hot.
